This is a mosaic of a Gannet, a bird commission I undertook in 2012 when my late husband Mark died. We were  supposed to work on it together, a private commission from a client who found me through the Orient -Express, who is a a complete train fanatic , and also loves and apreciates the work of Marjorie knowles, as he knew her .

This mosaic has taken me two and a half years to complete, an incredible journey of grief and moving on has been poured into this, I have stained the wooden base with many tears as ive worked, written messages in areas, and got friends to write things down too

I was asked to write a book while making the mosaic and it was published in February 2015 by Searchpress, part of a series called 20 to make, this book can be seen in most craft shops and on Amazon .

I had some help from a good friend and textile artist Hayley Cox, as I struggled emotionally to do this mosaic, she was a great support and helped on the cliff area of the mosaic and Im proud to say how well she worked on it. My other friend Alex Bennison also helped with the flowers, the pink thrift, which I feel really worked well with the design. Alex was an amazing support too during the making, she was like my coach, encouraging me to keep going, not to give up,which I did many times as it felt like such a lonely journey. Her lovely boyfriend Ben helped deliver the mosaic to Peters house where it will live eternally.

The floor was exhibited in Wales in Mid June 2014 at The Vale of Rheidol Railway Devils Bridge .Along with the Art of Terence Lambert a renowned wildlife artist in Wales, another of the clients favourite Artists.

This exhibition was for a month, and proved to be very popular with the visitors. They are considering to keep this as an ongoing idea at the Station for local Artists.

I have been recently commissioned to do another mosaic for the same client, for his bathroom floor.
