BRIEF BIOGRAPHY ON THE MOSAIC MAD ROMANS
Since 2000 I had been Trading as AIMEE SAIC , an Independent Mosaic Artist.
I married Mark in 2007, and a week after the wedding we decided to go into a Partnership in Business and call ourselves The Mosaic Mad Romans, due to our fascination with Roman Mosaics and way of life .
No, we didnt have a Roman Wedding like everyone thought we might ! It was a Victorian theme, based on the Thomas Hardy novel , Far From the Madding Crowd !
The very first public Mosaic I did was to mosaic the panels on a roundabout on the A259 In Peacehaven with a friend called Lindy Mo . This led to me changing my name to Aimee Saic, the publicity that came from decorating the roundabout in mosaic led to The Orient Express calling me and asking for my help in restoring the Mosaic floors, and eventually to the commission of MINERVA !
We try to mosaic in different ways to keep life interesting and upbeat ...
I came up with the idea of the Edible Mosaic at The Stiches Show a few years ago and its becoming very popular at our Childrens Parties.
We constantly experiment with new ideas in mosaic and glass fusing , which Mark specializes in. We plan to hold mosaic/ fusion workshops throughout the year to encourage people to have a go at something new and fun , where no Artistic skills are needed , just the belief that it is possible to achieve something Beautiful and Unique without spending years on training , or lots of money in the process.
The Mini Mosaic Kits
We have been selling our Mosaic kits over the last few years in a very small way to the public when they attend a drop in workshop at a show or Roman event,as we have worked with thousands of children over the years , it was easy to know what children like , so we decided to re launch them with more of a theme , after visiting many Museums and Roman sites we realised there were hardly any Mosaic kits available for Children , largely due to safety reasons.
We researched the problems and discovered soloutions that allow us to create our fun and educational Kits that need no tools or cutting.
They have all been CE marked , tested and passed all safety measures. We have even written our first little booklet that goes with every kit , which contains full instructions for each kit as well as interesting facts about The Romans , and Modern things , like cakes and Angels !
